Africa's development is far greater than material wealth and job creations. It is more than simply building a school; for if that school is being built for people whose outlook on opportunities is impaired then the school will do little for tangible development.

What kind of world do we live in when the views of the oppressed are expressed at the convenience of their oppressors?

Africa's development is far greater than focusing on material wealth and job creations. It is more than simply building a school; for if that school is being built for people whose outlook on opportunities is impaired, then the school will do little for tangible development. If the social and mental conditions of those receiving opportunities has not be addressed, then no matter what you pour into development, the results will always be attenuated. (AHS Notes)

NGOS AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT : Ewanfoh Obehi Peter | Considering the poor social/economic reality in the African continent, no one might say that African countries do not need aid or loan money from the international funds.

The point rather is on what conditions and how are the ends justifying the means, in relation to the common African people? The Nigerian military government, under Ibranhim Babangida [1] had taken a controversial loan from the International Monetary Fund. And as for the IMF conditions on the loan, which many Nigerians saw as unfavourable to the local economy and so compelled the government to opt out at the first instance . <more>

GARVEY ECONOMICS: Garvey believed that African Americans were universally oppressed and any program of emancipation would have to be built around the question of race. In his mind, African Americans would aspire to positions of influence if they had educational opportunities, and this would bring them into direct competition with the white power structure. However, he believed that within 100 years, such a position would lead to racial strife which would be disastrous for them (Sertima, 1988). Hence, his theory of racial separation was born. It was a stratagem to ensure self-reliance and equality for the downtrodden African race, but it did not stress racial superiority.<more>

CORRUPTION: Inequity steals the hopes of humanity by marginalizing the potential contributions from a majority sector of humanity. The cure for AIDS, the cure for Cancer, the mission to Mars, the next Bob Marley, the next Malcolm X are trapped in a village somewhere in the so-called Third World. Trapped by institutionalized racism, trapped by the policies of the World Bank, trapped by a corrupt leadership. The biggest untapped resource is not in the ground, It is in the people but this future is stolen because of the injustices of this world. <more>

REVOLUTION | The methodologies of the 60's should be evolved to function in our globalized world. It can no longer be acceptable for another generation to have to come and re-invent the wheel of failure via antiquated models of working. In the high tide of globalization what are the roles for economic and cultural development at the macroeconomic level? What specific language is required in the political spaces to create broad-base transformations in all sectors? Pan-Africanism is do or die but it needs tangible mutually beneficial partnerships, which create wealth, in is broadest sense, and hence creates incentives for a Pan-African ideology. All of this must slug through the issue of sincerity, efficiency and work ethos, and this needs mechanisms, which tease out the personalities, and egos that perpetuate failure. <more>

RACISM IN FEMANISM AGAINST HETROSEXUAL
Esther Stanford-Xosei, has brought a historic case She has alleged that her position was rendered untenable due to her: race and ethnicity; advocacy of African Feminism/s within a White-led organisation with an explicit value of Feminism; her heterosexuality; and heterosexist-racist assumptions about her faith. Africa's biggest problem today lies with the leadership. They are so removed from the people that they are looked upon as foreigners. They are driven by self-interest, so excessive that their peoples' interests are forgotten
