Until lions tell their tale, the story of the hunt will always glorify the hunter

African Proverb

Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will

– Frederick Douglass

The most pathetic thing is for a slave who doesn't know that he is a slave

– Malcolm X

Every man is rich in excuses to safeguard his prejudices, his instincts, and his opinions.

– Ancient Egypt

Cowardice asks the question: is it safe? Expediency asks the question: is it political? Vanity asks the question: is it popular? But conscience asks the question: is it right.

– Dr. Martin L. King, Jr

What kind of world do we live in when the views of the oppressed are expressed at the convenience of their oppressors?

– Owen 'Alik Shahadah

We are not Africans because we are born in Africa, we are Africans because Africa is born in us.

The power is now in our hands (the people). Not all of us can make films or write books or follow in the prophetic role of Malcolm X. But each of us can play a part in changing the world we live in. One of the smallest actions is to spend 5 minutes adding your voice to the petitions around the world which are dedicated to making our African reality better.

A peitition is not the final act of change. It is a very small part which allows group effort. There are no excuses, the change that must happen must be from within. If you cannot, then how do we expect change to come? Every right we enjoy today came from blood and sweat of those who dared to stand up while others chose to stand down - join us as we stand up for a new world.

Our world has changed, the methodologies of the 60's should be evolved to function in our globalized world. It can no longer be acceptable for another generation to have to come and re-invent the wheel of failure via antiquated models of working.

Petition Against White slaver momument

BLOCK MOMUMENT TO JOHN NEWTON IN ST KITTS: We reject the current plans to build a monument to John Newton, a slaver, as a recognition of the islands historical past. Saint Kitts is an African-Caribbean majority country with numerous African heroes to celebrate and cast monuments to. The erecting of this monument, at the expense of so many great Africans who have died and suffered under the yoke of slavery is tantamount to blasphemy.
It degrades and re-institutionalizes the horrors created by slavery and white supremacy. People must source heroes from their own narrative and not those of the people who inflicted the crimes against humanity. Films such as 500 Years Later made by Africans which give accurate African centered accounts of slavery and numerous books written by conscious Africans are no where to be found in the Caribbean., These African voiced projects are not broadcasted but the likes of Amazing Grace are. The school system still relies on Eurocentric curricula material to continue the legacy of inferiority. Block John Newton Momument

Petition for South Africa to show 500 Years Later PETITION TO GET AFRICAN FILMS IN AFRICA: 500 Years Later for 4 years has been stuck with SABC in the negotiation process. SABC is trying everything to stall and delay the broadcasting of this film. Beyond excuses how is it possible for Motherland and 500 Years Later to have so much trouble being shown by African broadcasters in Africa? A film about African people with dignity is struggling for broadcast while all manner of Hollywood poison is shown daily.
We believe only a public visible petition will get them to jump into gear and service the demands of empowering content which is critical for a people traumatized, marginalized and made to feel alienated. Media is a powerful tool, its function is part of the African story, not only to laugh and sing. But to express a deeper social story, of victory and trauma. this expression is at the heart of freedom and humanity. The ability to tell the African story with an African voice. Clear Garvey's Name CLEAR GARVEY's NAME: Marcus Garvey, founder of the UNIA, was arrested by the FBI under the Hoover administration and charged with mail fraud for which he was sentenced to five years in prison. Although his sentence was eventually commuted by President Calvin Coolidge, it is now abundantly clear that Garvey did not commit any criminal acts, but as Professor Judith Stein has stated, "his politics were on trial.
This petition need 1000 signatures and it will be sent straight to Obama. <more>

Mau Mau Apology MAU MAU APOLOGY: It is not widely known that prior to Kenyan independence, during the so called Mau Mau rebellion, Britain perpetrated human rights abuses and war crimes on a vast scale. In the 1950s and early 1960s thousands of Kenyans were subjected to unspeakable acts of torture and abuse at the hands of British officials, including castrations, sexual abuse and repeated beatings.

In April 2011 four elderly Kenyans travelled 4,000 miles from rural Kenya to seek redress from the High Court in London. The treatment they endured has left them all with devastating and life long injuries. They represent the wider community of hundreds of elderly Kenyans who are still alive and who were subjected to systematic violence and abuse in Colonial Kenya which was sanctioned at the very highest level in London.

There is a new film called "The First Grader" which is very well done But Why do you think this pretty film was made? It was not made by us Africans. And as touching as it is what is the agenda? It smoothly shifts accountability from the British to the current Kenyan government for reparations. Below is a petition for the Mau Mau case.<more>
