Culture : All work must be in the tradition of African culture, in all its diversity: Culture embraces marriage, rights of passage, mindset, language, etc. Our principles and codes of practices are drawn from the broad African culture. An aspect of African culture we embody is truth and justice over everything else, across the board independent of class, color or creed.
It is better to die for an idea that will live, than to live for an idea that will die |
-- Steve Biko, South Africa |
Economics : All work must be sustainable financially and have an economic component, which will create jobs and sustain the work independent of external support. This economics must also extend into the Global African community and fund development.
Unity : We believe the only way anything progressive can happen is through unity. We thus encourage and are willing to work with any progressive organization who understands the aims and objectives for Global African liberation and empowerment. There is absolutely no way we can achieve anything in isolation.
We prefer poverty in liberty to riches in slavery.
—Ahmed Sékou Touré
We are a diverse people, and have always been. Unity thus must be tolerance towards all religions: Islam, Candomble, Orisha, Judaism, etc. This unity perfected among ourselves always us to be tolerant to the wider human race. We do not tolerant any form of aimless hate. Our fight is not for racial dominance; only justice across the board for all humanity.

Institutionalization : All writings, films, music must be institutionalized into our cultural and historical archive for future generations. The African Holocaust society actively protects intellectual content by forming alliences with archiving bodies and legal firms to insure the work is available for the next generation. Institutionalization means accurate documentation and processing of ideas and concepts, which will out live the creators and personalities that founded them. The process must raise the standard of scholarship, and its presentation, all the while adhering to an institution-building objective; that is regulated and governed. We hope that a new “Timbuktu” of knowledge will build onto the extensive historical legacy of our ancestors. Our aim is that we and those who come after us will embody this information as a birthrights and build on these foundations. Thus, every generation advances the body of historical knowledge and study of our African history and culture.
He who is reluctant to recognize me opposes me. |

LEARNING FROM HISTORY
It is not sufficient to venture into the annals of African history for some romantic cruise. Our aim should be, like all civilized people, to take from our diverse legacy that which is in our best interest today. This is critical in forging our future from the cultural that has preserved us and defines us. To do this we must therefore understand and appreciate who we were then and who we are now.

The
African Holocaust (Maafa) society has been in the
formation since 1999. Halaqah Media while working in partnership with other organizations made a commitment to form an independent body to bring the history of Africa to the mainstream. Reasserting, learning from and reintroducing the tragedy of slavery into the global world culture, but with a distinctive African voice. Due to the success of the project, the remit of work, in 2006, was expanded to include African history as a whole, as well as contemporary and classical African culture.
