CHILDRENDS VILLAGE (ETHIOPIA)

D.y.m.d.c. children's village project was established in 2005 to help heal homeless children, orphans and other vulnerable children and youth in Addis Ababa through the arts. We provide school uniforms, supplies, meals, bathing and washing facilities and alot of love to the children Monday to Friday. The village is a volunteer initiative facilitated by Dr. Desta Meghoo, founder; Ato Merid Tafesse art director; Ras Seyoume - music director; and a host of other volunteers. The village prides itself on a unique approach to transformation: the arts. We use the arts; music, dance and art; to communicate important messages to the children while allowing for self-expression. The children are also taught how to earn money from their works in an effort to curb the cycle of begging for survival. Day to day operations of the village are made possible through donations of food and supplies, volunteer visits and sessions with the children, sale of art and other goods & through the generosity of Rastafarian collective in Addis Ababa. We hope you will join the village because it truly "takes a village to raise a child."

offers efficient and groundbreaking solutions related to community development, capacity building and cultural events. We specialise in education, training, production, management and social entrepreneurship .EBUKHOSINI SOLUTIONS is 100% Black-owned and Black-managed, and we provide our services from a genuine Afrikan perspective, drawing solutions from the vast historical and cultural traditions existing from ancient times – and making them relevant in a modern context. BLACK HISTORY STUDIES (UK)

The aims of Black History Studies are to: Inform, inspire and empower people through Black History and Black Studies by educating the community throughout the UK to educate themselves. Empower the community throughout the UK to enable them to develop self knowledge and identity through Black History and Culture. Work with the community to develop its full potential. Develop, organise and promote educational programmes, events and activities for individuals, organisations and others interested in Black History and Black Studies. Work with individuals and organisations whose primary aim is in accordance with that of Black History Studies, by identifying common interests and encouraging partnerships. Bring together people who are willing to further those aims and to stimulate interest in Black History and Black Studies. To encourage networking, discussion and debate around issues affecting the community. Organise activities and events for individuals, organisations and others interested in Black History and Black Studies. Assist in, and organise the training of individuals and organisations to teach Black History and Black Studies courses.. LINK.

WAZAA (USA)

Based out of Rancho Belago, California. WAO (Wazaa Ardhi Original) founder and CEO Dwain Young started his company with one thought in mind, to build an apparel line that spoke the truth about our history. That love of history and his passion to share history is what fuels WAO today. In 2004 with his Throwback T-shirt line Watts 1965 and LA 1992. The Resistance line was design to, spark dialogue and spread cultural consciousness. Our clothing lines are walking history lessons, paying tribute to events that shaped the future and made us who we are today. The Resistance line is about the shared history that many of us have limited knowledge or have forgotten. Urban Knowledge Street Wear is not just a clothing line, it is a movement.

When talking about independent institutions, you have to be talking about independent sources of funding. The institutions, if they are to maintain their independence and autonomy, must be funded by the people themselves. Once, we step outside of this source, we endanger not only our credibility, but our independence too
