Molefi K. Asante, Jr, born in Zimbabwe, is an international award-winning author and filmmaker. His first book, a collection of poems, entitled Like Water Running Off My Back, won the American Academy of Poets Jean Corrie Prize in 2002 and received critical acclaim across the world. He is the Executive Producer and Editor-In-Chief of Focused Digizine , the most widely viewed Hip-Hop Digizine in the world. In addition, he, along with legendary rapper Kurtis Blow, is the co-author of BLOW: The Autobiography of Kurtis Blow. Recently he penned the introduction to the book Our Flesh of Flames by Theodore Harris and Amiri Baraka. He is also a contributing author to The Encyclopedia of Black Studies.
